Surya part 2: Surya Puja & Pranayama
The Surya puja is a prayer to the reflections of the Inner Sun, the Soul, to become more sensitive to and deepen your intimacy with the Soul, via the accompanying meditative gestures (mudras).. It honors the twelve values or qualities of the soul: “Oh my soul, inner sun, I honor you as my true friend, center and inner fire. You give me true sight, true freedom and true nourishment. Oh dear soul, inner sun, you are my pristine purity, innate health and essential light. You give me my true spiritual belonging, radiant essence, and glimpse of the underlying creator.”
The Surya Prabhana Pranayama, the Breath of the Radiant Soul is a series of mantras and gestures (asanas) that support the practise of the Surya Namaskara. The pranayama (breathing-exercize) widens your breathing space in a natural and loving way and it makes your energetic awareness more sensitive and spacious. It helps you in your practice of the Surya Namaskara asanas and regulate your breath by singing the mantra. The mantra supports you while performing the large pranayama arms-gesture (see booklet for a description) and simultaniously experience the essential qualities of this mantra and their corresponding chakras in the great breath of life.
